Moving Checklist

1.  Get your Boxes. We have the cheapest boxes you can find and all other moving supplies with overnight shipping.

2.  Make sure you have enough boxes. When you think you have enough get a few more. If you are moving clothes we suggest getting wardrobe boxes.

3.  Contact your insurance agent to make sure your new place is covered, if you do not have insurance then we suggest getting it.

4.  Gather all important documents and put in a safe place until the move.

5.  If you have kids that are in school, make sure they are registered at the correct school.

6.  Save your receipts that are moving related, this includes gas, storage, supplies etc. These can be used come tax season.

7.  Did you know that you can get a ticket for not having the correct address on your Drivers license?

8.  Go the the DMV website HERE to update your information.

9.  Contact the USPS to put in a change of address to ensure all mail is delivered to the correct address.

10.  Begin any necessary repairs to the existing place you are moving from if renting. Getting your deposit back requires a little bit of work.

11.  If you are moving locally then use this website to transfer your utilities. You can also set up a new account if you need to. If moving out of town then make arrangements as need for that city. Make sure that they disconnect your old utilities as well. We have heard stories of people not finding out the utilities were kept on until they received a bill.Go to your leasing office to sign your new lease if renting.

12.  Set aside what will be coming with you in your vehicle and pack it first. Set this box aside.

13.  Pack your boxes and mark according to where they will go in the new place.

14.  Pack like items.

15.  Call to confirm your move date and time.

Finish move out repairs to existing place.

Go to new place and complete the move-in check list.

Use bubblewrap for any breakables. Newspaper can be known to stain certain items. 
Break down any furniture prior to the movers showing up. This will save time and money for you.
